Cat On a Hot Omani Roof

Two days ago, we're coming down the stairs with food in our hands for Ellen's going-away party at school. There, on the landing between the second and third floors is a kitten. It's mostly white with a couple orange spots, very short hair and, like most cats around, a bit scraggly and malnourished.
So what else could we do?

Miriam stayed home for the first class to stay and give the kitten something to eat, while I took the food to school. She couldn't find anything to give him but steaks we had in the freezer (which we probably wouldn't have ate anyway...they were kinda old), but he snubbed his nose at those. Yes, a picky dumpster cat. When I got home, I found one last can of tuna and of course he ate that up.
The next day we picked up some more tuna, as it was cheaper than actual cat food, and some litter. I fashioned a litter box out of a cardboard box that Miriam's mom had sent us some American supplies within back in April.
One thing I'll take away from this experience is: I will not again willfully get a kitten. Sure, if something like this comes up again, I would take one in (not that I'd have a choice over Miriam). But I wouldn't get one from Petsmart or the pound. They're just too much for me. He does seem to have chilled out a bit today. But I was so exhausted over the last two days, just with keeping him out or off of everything and trying to keep up with his demands for activity and play. Also, his constant biting and clawing.
As we only have 4 weeks left here (probably), we are looking at who we can give him away to. There's a Danish/American couple you have expressed interest. He'll probably go to them. The transfer will probably be soon, and at latest before we leave for India. But if his non-stop energy keeps up, I'd prefer it to be soon.

All reservations for accommodations in India have been secured, as well as a pick-up from the airport from the Delhi motel -- even at so early in the morning!

I have an overwhelming urge to starting making maps again, but I don't think I can act on it until the kitten is gone. Otherwise, I could re-install SimCity, but I really don't want to do that
